What happened this year?

Hi all,

It has been a very, VERY long time since I last blogged. I would like to think up all of the excuses in the world of how I haven't had time, I've been swamped with uni work etc. etc. and although that is true, that never meant that I didn't have some time to sit down and blog.

I guess in some ways I was uninspired, but at the same time I also couldn't be bothered because I thought I had better things to be doing.

But I have sat down today and thought "better late than never to start posting again" and well, here I am!

I’ll be completely honest too and say that it has been nearly a month since I wrote this; I got a bit nervous about blogging again so held off on posting until I felt completely comfortable to start doing so more consistently.

So a lot has happened since I last posted, the main thing being is that I have now finished university. It feels very weird to be saying that - and I honestly haven't quite come to terms with that fact yet, it will probably set in more come September when I don't find myself preparing for another academic year!

My last year at university - as stressful as it has been - has honestly been the best one for me yet, which makes it all the more upsetting that I don't have another year of it. But I think explaining everything that happened during my last year at university is for another blog post - including my time as a presenter for Inside Solent.

I have had a lot of different jobs! Some didn't last for very long, but that was always because it never worked out for me and my schedule. Most of my closer friends will know how often I was bouncing between my home town and university, and because a lot of that was planned and booked before I had even got a job, it just made it all the more difficult to properly commit to one. That and it was my final year at university, so my priority was work for that.

I did settle in at a part-time job at a pub closer to home around Christmas time, and working there has been the best experience for me. I've had a few jobs, or even job interviews where I can tell straight away that it's not the place for me, but this place is not one of those. Although it isn't somewhere I see myself in the long-term (primarily because my aim is to do something relating to my degree - go figure!), it is somewhere where I am happy to be now.

I have been away in Samsø again for just over a month (May until the beginning of July). I went over with my boyfriend to visit his parents, and I also somehow managed to land myself a job in the short time period of time that I was there.

I would have loved to have stayed in Samsø for the entire summer just as we did last year, but I had to go back for my graduation - again, I will include everything about this in a separate blog post - and also I have a commitment to my job back home in the UK!

Holidays! Trips! That's been a main theme of my year: it even got to a point where my lecturers would joke about whether I was going to be in the country for their lectures! It doesn't feel like I've been away much, but I probably have been away more than the average person would be (lol).

I came back to Samsø in the new year to see my boyfriend and his family, that was only for a week - but, it was my first time flying by myself so it's safe to say that I was quite nervous! Not for the flight itself - I ended up sleeping through all of that - but for everything leading up to it. I was more worried about missing it more than anything.

We then went away to Norway the first week of February. We stayed in Tromsø in an Air BNB, and it was a really great experience! We didn't have much money to do things on this trip, but it was just nice to be able to go for lots of walks and enjoy the scenery. We were even lucky enough to see the Northern Lights one night, which were absolutely spectacular. The only downside to this trip was that I had uni work to do whilst we were away, so I couldn't fully escape from reality!

Of course, I went back to Samsø again at the end of May; but my boyfriend and I have booked to go to America in September which I am soooooooo unbelievably excited for! I wasn't able to go with my university when they went earlier this year, so I'm so grateful that I have the chance to go and visit.

I’m also off to Bulgaria this week on a family holiday... okay, maybe that is one holiday too many. 😅

But other than that, I think that's about it. I'm sure something will pop in my head maybe worth mentioning, but that's the gist of my year down in writing!

As for blog posts now, I do plan to get one up about my final year at university, my graduation, my travels; even a little post about my own experiences travelling my by lonesome which I have done more than a few times now for reasons that I will disclose in future posts. 😎

I plan to post at least once a week, although this week I may have another post up on my site this Friday - so stay tuned for that!

Thank you for taking the time to read this post and I hope you enjoy what’s to come!

Cheers. X
