Switzerland

Hi all!

For those of you who have been seeing my posts on Twitter and Instagram, you will know most of what will be coming. For those of you who haven't, the title probably says it all!

So I left Denmark last week after spending over three months there. It was very sad to say goodbye to everyone, but knowing that I will go back at some point made it less upsetting.

I am now enjoying the last part of my holidays in Switzerland! I'll be returning to the UK on Friday, so I'm trying to make the most of everything I can whilst I'm here.

My boyfriend and I are over here visiting more of his family, but are also taking the time to visit some of the most remarkable landscapes that I've ever witnessed.

We started the main part of our adventure in Zermatt, where we decided we'd do the Mattehorn trail. Now, my pictures do not do anything justice.

We took the cable cart up to Schwarzsee, which is at an elevation of 2552 m; which meant that at the beginning of our journey down, it was snowing!

This was amazing for me - someone who has never experienced proper snow before - and it just made the whole experience that much more fantastic.

The walk down wasn't anything too strenuous, it just meant that the backs of our legs ached a bit the next day. But that doesn't really matter when you've just journeyed through some of the most breath-taking views.

It took us about three hours to hike back down to Zermatt, that includes a quick coffee break in between. All-in-all, I don't think much will compare to the experience I had that day.

The next day we caught the train to Lauterbrunnen from Wengen, where we just did a nice, easy walk from there to Stechelberg.

The walk took just over an hour, and it offered the most amazing views of the valley and the waterfalls.

From Stechelberg we took the bus to Trümmelbach Falls, and took a walk through the caverns to take a closer look at the waterfalls.

It was quite intimidating being so close to the falls. They just gush out with so much force that you never really notice when just admiring them from afar.

But this was a nice day spent out, just admiring things from up close rather than from a distance.

Our last day (before coming back to stay in the part of Switzerland where my boyfriend's family lives) was spent catching the train to Kleine Scheidegg, which is a mountain pass at an elevation of 2061 m. It's situated between the Eiger and Lauberhorn peaks.

We originally wanted to do the Eiger trail, but it was more expensive than we thought to get there, and the weather wasn't looking too promising; so we decided against it.

But the walk that we did offered great views of the famous trio of mountains: the Eiger, the Mönch, and the Jungfrau, so it was still just as amazing as it could have been.

The walk from Kleine Scheidegg took us back to Wengen, where we got the train back after our weekend adventure.

The walk itself took about 1 hour and 30 minutes, and although it wasn't as amazing as our first walk, it still offered the most breath-taking views.

Although my time in Switzerland isn't over yet, I've still really enjoyed the experience I've had here. I've enjoyed views that I never have anywhere else, and done something that I'll remember for a lifetime.

I did film over the course of the three days, but I don't plan on editing it until I'm back at University at the end of this month; so keep an eye out for that!

If you want to check out anything that I'm up to whilst I'm here just peep my Instagram - @squires_sophie - where I'll be posting when and where I can.

Until next time!

Speak soon. x
