Hey all!

So first things first, this drawing is not part of my drawing challenge.

I know: I am so behind it with it already, so why am I just pushing myself even further behind?

In my last blog post, I talked about a piece that I was creating to be the artwork for my boyfriend's new song release; now that I've completed that, I thought I'd be able to catch up on my drawing challenge (I'll put the final image in a gallery at the end of this post).

Also as mentioned, I visited Aarhus, where I did a mini-haul of art supplies, which made me so inspired to create so many different pieces of work; however, these ideas were not related to my drawing challenge.

I did sit down today with every intention of doing my drawing challenge, but after a while I decided against it, and created my own piece instead.

Initially I felt disappointed in myself for not sticking to a challenge that I set out to complete, but then I remembered that the whole point of the challenge was to get me back into drawing, and to bring back the inspiration that I had lost; that inspiration that I have now regained.

And with my new art supplies at hand, I wanted to experiment with them designing a piece that I wanted to do.

So here is my final outcome:

No, it's not the best piece of work at all, there's a lot of things that could be better with it; but overall, I was happy creating a piece that I wanted to.

I also wanted to create something to a certain scale that would give me enough space to experiment with the new Twin Markers that I used to create this.

I think in the future i need to focus on making sure that the head shape is proportionate - as I feel in this piece that the jawline and chin weaken the piece - as well as adding a bit more depth and tone in the shading of the skin, and potentially everything else.

I'm definitely happy with the eyes - they stand out the most for me. But overall, I was very happy whilst creating this and I hope that that can shine through in this and the future art pieces to come.

So if I hadn't made it obvious before, I will not be carrying on with the drawing challenge, but I still have many more ideas to come.

I think at the end of the day, it's a great idea to help build motivation, and get the momentum going - but once you have that, there's no need to carry on. Especially if you don't want to do it/nor do you feel happy doing it.

As promised as well, I'll post in the gallery below the final outcome of my previous piece, as well as some alternating shots of the above piece.

I have a different topic of blog post brewing at the moment, and I hope to get it posted within the next week.

Until then, speak soon. x
